Summer is usually a quieter with less things to post but I recently went on a longer hiatus. I had the opportunity to go down to LA to work on a short film Aria for a Cow as a lighter. I initially joined on back in June but everyone was working independently and we wanted quicker and more direct progress, me and two others journeyed down to work where we set up a couple of computers in the director, Dan Lund's, home, and thanks to Victoria Maus for housing us. There are a total of 119 shots and we've finished the majority of the opening plus some additional shots which is around 40 some shots. There's more to do and hopefully we can finish by December so that the film is able to make its way around the festival circuit![vimeo 79252417 w=500 h=281]
Aria For A Cow is an animated short, based on a song of the same title by the award-winning team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, the men behind the music of Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and The Beast. Aria, the cow, sings about wanting to be treated with respect.
What's particularly interesting about this production is that it is global; we have people from across the world working. While there were some small snafus, mostly due to not everyone having the exact same resources and experience, everything has been sorted out and production is going on smoothly. There's been a buzz about our film in the animation industry so I'm excited for production to finish and have it shown!
