An assignment to write a short paper on a VFX superstar was given in one of my classes at AAU. Guidelines of who this person can be were only limited in that the person must have at least 2 years of experience working in the industry, but most of all must be someone in a field that we are interested in and inspires us. While not knowing exactly who I wanted to research, I knew that there are three areas that I would like to pursue. Texture painting, lighting, and visual development. From there I went through and looked at the credit list of a few of my favorite Disney and Pixar movies. It was here that I stumbled upon Davide Pesare.
Davide Pesare is an amazing artist who wrote a full library of natural shaders while he worked at RebelThink in Rome. From there on he has also been credited for films such as "Happy Feet" and "The Guardians of Ga'Hoole" from Animal Logic, "Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix" and "Sweeny Todd" from Motion Picture Company, and currently he is working at Pixar with credits for "Toy Story 3", "la Luna", and "Monsters University".
Davide Pesare has really inspired me pursue my dreams and to continue improving. Like Davide, I want to be able to take my experiences and create a fantastical world of dreams and emotions where wishes come true to share with everyone.
Best part of Davide's blog, he confirms that the 4 armed shirts and sweaters from the Monsters University website will be available at some point. When I first saw them I thought they were hilarious and I would want one but sadly they were marked only with "Coming Soon", not knowing if they were for real or just a joke.
